WAF

A web application firewall filters requests using rules that can block common attack patterns. It adds a layer of protection but does not replace secure code, updates or access controls.

What a WAF does

It filters HTTP requests using rules, such as detecting common injection patterns or limiting repeated sign-in attempts. It can run on a server, proxy or CDN.

Its limits

A WAF does not repair application bugs, replace updates or stop every attack. An overly strict rule may interfere with customers, file uploads or integrations.

How we configure it

We review legitimate workflows, enable logging and test rules gradually. Forms and chat also need server-side limits, field validation and controls around paid API access.
