What belongs in a backup
Files, the database and necessary configuration. Consistency matters for stores: week-old files and a current database may not restore together correctly.
How to store it
Keep several versions, including a copy separate from the main server. Restrict access, protect personal data and consider whether an incident could remove both the working site and its backup.
Restoration is the real test
A successful backup report does not replace a restore exercise. We agree on acceptable data loss and recovery time, set a schedule and test the copy. We also take a separate snapshot before updates or malware cleanup.
